Feeling Zen

I feel so Zen this week. Really, nothing can get me down.

For instance, yesterday we had the circumcision team come from Mahalapye. We had 15 men registered to get circumcision done the day the team would arrive, and had called the clients two days before to remind of their appointment, which they confirmed they would attend.

NO ONE SHOWED UP. IT WAS A DISASTER. The SMC team had spent a lot of money to come to my clinic and now there was nothing for them to do!!!

I think a year ago this would have really freaked me out. I would have been mad at those people who didn’t show (when we called them they mostly said, “ahh but I went to the lands to plough”. Jerks). But I really wasn’t phased. I knew something would work out, it always does.

And it did! We mobilized in a neighboring village and managed to convince 8 people to come! On the spot! The circumcision team left late, which they were not happy about, but at least there was something.

I really don’t let anything get me down lately. Mostly I think it’s been because I’ve been ridiculously selfish recently. I plan maybe one meeting a day, and spend the rest of the time studying MCAT, working out, reading, and doing whatever I want! It is awesome! I’ve definitely accustomed to Africa Time, that’s for sure!
